Reading is important... read on your own or read with a partner! 'Read-to-self' or 'Read-to- someone'
Each month the students will complete a Reading Response project about a book of their choice. Students are expected to choose a 'Just Right' book that is at their reading level. This project will be completed for homework- do not leave this to the last minute! Finding time at home to read each night is a great way to include reading in your families nightly routine. Have fun.... and read! Mrs. Gibb We have finished up our lessons on paragraph writing... we know how to write narrative, descriptive, procedural, and persuasive paragraphs. We know how to brainstorm our ideas first (web, list or 4 boxes) and use our ideas to write a paragraph. Students should be editing and revising their writing on their own. Ask your child what they look for when editing!
QUICK WRITES- students will now be required to write at least one paragraph per week in order to continue to practice paragraph writing skills. There is a list of topics and a rubric glued into the front of their 'Quick Write' workbook. Please encourage your child to complete this task on their own as much as possible. Assist when necessary. Thanks Mrs. Gibb |
